Dining Room Design

We all love to eat so your dining room design should enhance that experience. Sharing food with family and friends is one of the best ways to spend your time. Therefore create yourself a wonderful space where you can enjoy your food and chitchat.

Your dining room design will depend on its location. For example, I am not a big fan of having a separate kitchen and dining room. I much prefer an eating space within the kitchen area if that is possible.

I think you will find that a separate dining room in a smaller property is a space luxury that you cannot afford, therefore in your redesign alter spaces that are being under-used so that you are getting the most out of your property.

You might even live in an open plan home which means that you are creating zones within one space. Suit your design according to the space your want and the way you live.

The image below shows an example of a contemporary styled dining room within an open plan living room.

CONSIDER:

1. The size of your room.

-prepare your floor plan.
-prepare your dinging room decor ideas onto your mood board.

2. The size of your furniture.

-how many people can you have seated comfortably?

-can you create extra space to accommodate more?

-perhaps invest in some fold away chairs which you can store when they are not needed.

3. What concept would you like to base your dining room ideas on?

4. Does your dining room design have enough storage?

5. Perhaps your space can only accommodate a breakfast bar to eat at.

-choose great looking stools to fit into your design style.

6. Do you double your dining table as your office table?

-good storage is a must! perhaps consider using a screen to partition off your work equipment so you give yourself a break from the 'office'.

7. Add some fantastic ambient lighting.

-pendant light fittings could be a stunning addition like those shown in the below images.

When you are preparing the floor plans for your dining room ideas, have a look at your traffic lanes to make sure your furniture placement won't be blocking your movement as you travel from one area to the next. This is particularly important should you have a combined, functional space.

The dining room on the right is a cool contemporary design, with an interesting monotone type or artwork on the wall. It is a good example of what you can do with a small eating area. Note how the 'traffic lanes' are kept free.

Table and Chairs:

These items have to be right up there with the most important pieces of furniture in your home. This is the one set of furniture that the whole family uses, regularly. For this reason, they should be functional, comfortable and ideally, look fantastic.

You might opt for bench seating instead of chairs, which frees up space when they are being stored under the table.

Decide which shape your table top would suit your concept and room the best. Should it be round, oval, square or rectangle. Perhaps you could select an extendable table which is great to host more guests.

My personal choice is a large rectangular type of table, which everyone can comfortably sit at. Having a great social area at home is very important so that communication flows effortlessly.

So get those dining room ideas going to create your amazing home experience even better.
