Hallway Interior Design

When you enter into your home, your hallway design ideas greet and escort you, to whichever area you are heading. Therefore, spend some time collecting visual information for your mood board to help you get your design worked out exceptionally well.

Your hallway is a great area to showcase your personal style, decorating abilities so really enjoy creating an amazing space based around your concept. The hallway shown in the image below is a wonderful example of how to use a deep toned, color palette without making the space dingy. It looks sumptuous and is full of good taste.

When you are selecting your hallway decor, select to make a beautiful and charming environment that fills you with gratitude for being at home.

Some hallways lead to a staircase, for which there is a section dedicated to staircases. Click here for information and ideas for your staircase. Other hallways are wide enough to have furniture added to them like the fabulous example shown in the image below.

Floor: More often than not, I will use the same floor finish to cover the hallway and staircase AND if we are looking at an open plan living room area too.

So what works? My answer: everything... just work with your concept to get your look right on the button.

Rugs look great in a hallway both on a hard floor finish or carpet. They also break up a long hallway really well to give you mini transition areas.

The image below is an example of an uber, chic minimalist hallway that is mixed with a classical theme. The LED ceiling mounted lighting adds the finishing touch.

Walls: Again, stick to your concept so that your hallway design ideas work for you. This will help you to go for flat, painted walls or a fabulous wallpaper. Compliment your walls with some great artwork and or framed family photos hung in different sized and perhaps different frames. Really add your individuality into your hallway walls.

You might not have space for a cloakroom, so you could add and interesting arrangement of coat hooks like that shown in the image below, left.

Lighting: I like light, bright hallways, so I always use natural light as far as possible then ambient lighting for evening time. Wall sconces will work well in a hallway or if your concept allows for it, why not choose a magnificent chandelier? Those make excellent focal points and can really set your style off.
